EDITORIAL INTERNS, SPIN MAGAZINE/SPIN.COM

BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking interns with strong backgrounds in writing and a serious interest in music and youth culture for editorial intern positions. SPIN employs interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December) programs. Interns work 16-24 hours per week (two or three full days) and may receive college credit (interns also receive minimum wage). All editorial internships are completed at our New York offices in Manhattan. SPIN does not provide housing or travel assistance.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
interns are responsible for transcribing interviews, researching stories, updating release and event schedules, running errands, organizing mail, conducting interviews. Interns also pitch and write stories for SPIN and SPIN.com.

APPLICATION MATERIALS:
Complete intern applications include a cover letter, résumé, and 2 to 4 clips. Applicants without published clips are encouraged to submit music-related pieces (reviews or news stories) written on their own. There is no formal application form.

DEADLINES:

MARKETING DESIGN INTERNS, SPIN

BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking a Marketing Design intern who is passionate about both music and graphic design. The Marketing Design intern will report to the Marketing Designer and assist the Marketing department in designing for SPIN magazine and SPIN.com .

SPIN employs interns during the Spring and Fall semesters as well as the Summer.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Duties may include designing event and concert signage; creating online web banners and skins; designing e-vites, newsletters, and invitations; mock-ups for presentations; photographing SPIN events; prepping files for print. Must be efficient and have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

REQUIREMENTS:
Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite: Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop; iMovie; Flash. Knowledge of Final Cut Pro a plus.

ADMINISTRATIVE INTERNS, SPIN

BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking administrative interns who are interested in music and have a strong desire to learn about the inner workings of a multimedia publication.

SPIN employs 2 administrative interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (May/June to August), and Fall (September to December) internship programs. Interns work approximately 15-20 hours per week. Housing and travel assistance are not provided. All interns must live in proximity to New York City.

DEADLINES:

The application deadline for the Fall internship is September 15.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) organizational tasks, running errands, tracking Internet piracy, general research, and helping review business agreements. Interns will also be expected to assist with the preparation of events and programs, which requires interaction with record labels, clubs and other outlets.

ADVERTISING AND MARKETING INTERNS, SPIN

BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking business interns who are passionate about music and have a strong desire to learn about the advertising, marketing and promotions side of the magazine. The internship will offer students a chance to get a firsthand look at the business infrastructure at a major publication.

SPIN employs 4 to 5 business interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (June to August), and Fall (September to December) internship programs. Interns work 18-25 hours per week and may receive college credit (interns receive minimun wage). All business internships are completed at our New York offices in Manhattan. SPIN does not provide housing or travel assistance.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Responsibilities include (but not limited to): Working closely with Ad Reps and Coordinators to secure advertisements, build relationships and prospect new advertisers. Interns will also aid the marketing department with preparation of events and programs, and will interact with record labels, clubs and other outlets. In addition, interns will get a chance to experience the inner workings of all other business related departments.

PHOTO INTERNS, SPIN

BASIC INFORMATION:
SPIN is seeking photo interns who are interested in music and passionate about photography. The internship will offer an excellent opportunity to experience working in a photo department at a major publication.

SPIN employs 2 to 3 photo interns during its Spring (January to May), Summer (May/June to August), and Fall (September to December) internship programs. Interns work approximately 16 hours per week (2 full days) and may receive college credit (interns receive minimun wage). All interns must live in proximity to New York City.

ABOUT THE INTERN PROGRAM:
Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) photo research, communication with publicists to obtain photography, help in producing photo shoots and various administrative tasks (sending out issues/organizing materials).
